Hidden Lock For Android
— September 12, 2011 - 11:59 am —

IS Known that we often lock our phone for multiple reasons, in particular if it gets stolen or perhaps we are surrounded by many nosy people who like to be looking at your cell asking to see it or just to poke around which ever reason it is as we know the default lock does nto help too much specially if its a pattern if you left traces of the smudge it can be re-created.

If you’re running Android, there’s an app for you: it’s known as Hidden Lock and it will greatly enhance your smartphone lock screen’s security. By default, Android’s lock screen simply requires users to slide their finger in order to have access to the device’s main interface. This will protect users against nothing but unintended interaction, since a thief, a toddler or even a pet would be capable of convincingly sliding their finger. Hidden Lock addresses this concern by providing two solutions that make it slightly harder, albeit accessible, to unlock a device.

Hidden Lock comes in two distinct modes, which can be flipped on and off on the fly by simply accessing the app’s settings. The first one allows users to set an unlock PIN, a passcode that will have to be punched in every time the device is awaken from sleep using a transparent on-screen padlock. This is quite similar to features in other systems that allow unlock passcodes to be set.

Print to PDF
— August 28, 2011 - 12:04 pm —

For those iOs users out there who put a good use to airprint. if you want to save content on your iPhone to a PDF file with just a few taps, Print to PDF is the best app for the job.

When you open Print to PDF, it’ll start a print server that other iOS apps will be able to see using AirPrint. If you go to print an email, for example, you’ll choose the printer named “Print to PDF – YOUR_DEVICE_NAME” and print like you normally would. Print to PDF will grab the email, turn it into a PDF file, and then send you a push notification to let you know it succeeded. You can then tap a button on that notification to view the newly-generated file in the app. It’ll sort your emails and other documents automatically, plus you can open them in other apps or email them elsewhere.

Support for third-party services like Dropbox would be awesome, but Print to PDF is nonetheless a seamless solution to a desirable missing feature in iOS.

Disable Lockscreen On Your Android
— August 26, 2011 - 12:26 pm —

we all put a pin lock pattern, password to keep our phones saved when we are out ot keepothers way from it, but what if you live alone and no one bothers you yet you get tired of entering the pin over and over at your house, with this app you dont have to worry about removign the pin at home and enable it when you go out you can unlock your android while connected at your home network. with a nice tweak on Android.

Developed by Ben Hirashima, Unlock with WiFi keeps your phone unlocked while you’re at home so you can use your Android smartphone without having to unlock it with a PIN code / unlock pattern every time you want to check a freshly-arrived notification.

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, you launch it and add your home/office Wi-Fi network. After adding the desired network, the app gets enabled automatically and, well, that’s just about it. As soon as you leave the added network, you’ll have to unlock your phone by entering the PIN code or unlock pattern.

From Android Market:

Unlock With WiFi unlocks your phone when you’re connected to your home WiFi network. What does “unlock” mean? It means you don’t have to enter your password/pattern/PIN when you turn on your phone. When you’re at home, or work, you don’t need to worry about losing your phone, so why should you have to enter your password?

How does it work?

When you get home and connect to your WiFi network, your device will unlock. Then when you leave, and the WiFi disconnects, the device will lock again. You have to enter your password the first time after you connect to your WiFi network. This is so that if someone steals or finds your phone, they can’t just bring it to your house to unlock it. After you enter your password once while connected to your WiFi network, you won’t have to enter it again until you leave/disconnect. This is great for SMS texting!
